Yung Kong Metal Works Co Bhd (YKMW) has been the steel wire production business
since 1963. It started as a small factory along Abell Road, Kuching, Sarawak,
East Malaysia.
It initially started with producing chain-link fence, barbed wire and welding
works. Since then, it had introduced several products such as steel welded
fabric, mild steel bars, CQ bar, hard drawn wire, steel strap, galvanized wire,
annealed wire, high tensile ribbed wire and ribbed bar etc.
Today, its products are well distributed in Sarawak and also to Sabah,
Peninsular Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Australia.

The company received its ISO 9002:1994 award certification in 1999. Further
improvements in its management system, it was awarded the ISO 9001:2000
certification by Lloyd's Registration Quality Assurance of the United Kingdom
(LRQA) in 2001. The certificate was successfully upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 in 2010.
This has proven that the company is longing for excellence in
its product and service in order to better serve its current customers and
future prospective.

The company has also been recognized by local quality management system, SIRIM,
Malaysia. These certifications include MS 145:2001 for YMC Steel Welded Fabric
for the Reinforcement of Concrete in 2005 and MS 144:2001 for YHD Hard Drawn
Wire in 2007. Both certificates were successfully upgraded to MS 145:2006 and MS
144:2006 in 2010 with grade 500.
