Yung Kong Metal Works Co Bhd (YKMW) has been in the steel wire production business for 44 years. It started as a small factory along Abell Road, Kuching, Sarawak, East Malaysia in 1963. It initially starts of with producing Chain-Link Fencing, Barbed Wire and Welding Works. Since then, it had introduced several products: GI Welded Mesh, Yung Kong Reinforcement Concrete (YMC & YRC), Hot Dipped GI Wire, PVC Coated Wire, Bolts & Nuts, Mild Steel Bars, CQ Bar, Hard Drawn Wire, Stirrup, Steel Strapping, Annealing Wire, High Tensile Ribbed Wire & Ribbed Bar etc.
Today, its products are well distributed in Sarawak. They are also distributed to Sabah, Peninsula Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Australia.
The company received its ISO 9002:1994 award certification in year 1999. Further improvements in its management system, the company was awarded the ISO 9001 Certification by Lloyd's Registration Quality Assurance of the United Kingdom (LRQA), in year 2001. This proof that the company thirst for excellence in its product and service in order to better served its current and prospective customers.
Alongside with ISO certification, the company has also been recognized by local quality management system, SIRIM, Malaysia. The certification that was obtained is YMC Steel Welded Fabric for The Reinforcement of Concrete MS145:2001 SIRIM Certification in year 2005, YMC Hard Drawn Wire SIRIM Certification in year 2007 and lately MS 144 : 2001 certification.
